Pubs & Restaurants

The Castle Inn – Knucklas (2.3 miles away)
The nearest pub to Criggin Barn is the Castle Inn and the only one within a reasonable walking distance, taking an hour to reach on foot. They have good local beers on tap and excellent Thai food. Usually open evenings and weekends but check opening hours before setting off.

The White Horse – Clun (6.8 miles away)
A very friendly pub in the beautiful village of Club. They brew their own delicious beers and have a good range of other local beers to enjoy in the cosy interior or in their beer garden. The ruins of Clun Castle are a 5 minute stroll away and free to wander up to.

The Lion – Leintwardine (12.6 miles away)
One of two great pubs in Leintwardine – The Lion sits on the banks of the River Teme, which also flows through the village of Llanfairwaterdine. As well as serving lovely stone baked pizzas, this is an excellent spot for a riverside drink in the sunshine.

Sun Inn – Leintwardine (12.7 miles away)
Set further back in the village of Leintwardine, the Sun Inn is a bit more of a boozer. Formally a parlour pub, they serve a quality range of local beers and a friendly welcome is guaranteed. They have a spacious garden for soaking up the sun and a very good fish and chip shop next door if you want to take dinner home with you.

The Oak – Wigmore (14.3 miles away)
More of a restaurant than a pub, but the food here is good, and you can have a wander up to look at Wigmore Castle nearby. The Castle Inn around the corner is more of a boozer if you want a couple of drinks before or after eating.

The Horse & Jockey – Knighton (4.7 miles away)
Knighton has a number of pubs – at the Horse & Jockey you will find a nice pint of beer or glass of wine and some decent food. They have some small screens showing live sport and it’s right in the centre of town for local amenities.
